MOXI’s resident indie pop duo Misty Mtn made their official debut on May 09 with freshman EP ‘Missed Your Call.'
The 5-track effort makes a prismatic and inspired statement with poignant timing as the band book ends their time in Brooklyn before heading west to their new home base of LA.
“Missed Your Call is about moving on. Whether that be from a place, from a person, from an addiction, etc, it's about the process. Moving on is triumphant, yet sometimes painful. It’s hard, but usually good. It’s freedom, and it’s new beginnings,” says the band about the record.
Over a year in the making, the EP is an airy and emotive endeavor brimming with fortifying tones and beguiling melodies. Oscillating between electro-pop and folk-pop, ‘Missed Your Call’ circulates with elegance and tranquility to another heavenly sonic destination the duo are quickly becoming known for.
Leading to the release the band hosted a private showcase at New York’s Soho House on April 24 to celebrate the lead single “Silver,” a track that was premiered via Celeb Mix and EARMILK, was featured as KCRW’s “Today’s Top Tune” and landed on Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist.
A visual campaign in partnership with landscape photographer/videographer Mikey Graef and illustrator Mary Deaton Heldman painted the way to the EP’s release, showcases the band’s affection for the outdoors and the crux of their inspiration.
Release day found the band performing at the iHeart Radio’s Acoustic Lounge while the record was quickly met with support from Spotify’s Indie Pop, Left of Center, Chill Vibes, Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds Wave, Fresh Finds Index, and Fresh Finds Poptronix playlists and continued press support from the likes of EARMILK, The Wild Honey Pie, Vanyaland, Popdust, and Substream Magazine.
To celebrate, the band hosted a packed out release show at Brooklyn’s hip Kinfolk 94 where friends & collaborators Anna Shoemaker and Richie Quake kicked off the night before Misty Mtn dazzled the crowd with their most invigorated performances to date. Special thanks to partners Women That Rock and Homesick candles who helped curate the night alongside MOXI.
Misty Mtn now makes the move to LA where they will play a show in July, to be announced soon. This powerhouse duo is just getting warmed up, stayed tuned.
